While countless guests gathered around the bar and enjoyed Martinis, Manhattans, Old Fashioneds and other libations to limber up for dinner, James learned his way around the kitchen prepping sauces and often assembling one of the signature desserts of the period, flaming Cherries Jubilee.

Later in life, despite his cooking repertoire expanding, his affinity for classic 1960s favorites (and the decade in general) never diminished and remain his focus.

His writing has appeared in various financial websites and automotive journals since 1987; and he has published the cult 1960s-centric automotive blog Auto Universum since 2009.
